The course at Louisville Country Club is one for the golfing connoisseur to savour as it’s a venerable old Walter Travis track that dates back to 1924. The club remains faithfully rooted in the original design, despite dabbling by William Diddel during the mid-’50s. The golf course was originally designed by Tom Bendelow, and redesigned in 1924 by Walter Travis. The clubhouse was built in 1910 and designed by the architectural firm of McDonald & Dodd.

Lincliffe Estate

Lincliffe is a historic Georgian Revival mansion built in 1911-12 for William Richardson Belknap. Frederick Law Olmsted’s nephew John Olmsted designed the original hilltop site plan, including terraces, walkways, and massive limestone retaining walls. In the 1930s, landscape architect Bryant Fleming, known for designing Nashville’s one hundred-acre Cheekwood estate, drew up an elaborate landscape plan for Lincliffe.
